If you’re able to arrive early enough on Thursday for Goodwood’s Moving Motor Show you might just be able to book yourself a slot to drive up the famous hillclimb course with one of the many manufacturers displaying their cars. Few mere mortals get the opportunity to drive up the hallowed tarmac at Goodwood – it’s more often reserved for F1 aces and motorsport heroes, such as a certain David Coulthard. Aston Martin and AMG working on new V8 engines The collaboration deal between Aston Martin and AMG has moved to another level with the announcement that the two companies are working on a new V8 engine for Aston Martin. Aston Martin and AMG signed a letter of intent in July to kick off their technical partnership, and the news the companies are working together on a new V8 engine – which will probably first be seen in a new V8 Vantage – is the first fruits of the deal. A statement from AML and AMG said they are planning to expand their agreement to work on sharing electronic components and will “investigate additional areas of operation”.

Renault Twin’Run takes on the Renault 5 Turbo and Clio V6 It’s only a couple of days since the Renault Twin’Run Concept sprang in to life, complete with V6 Turbo powering the back wheels and looking for all the world like a spiritual successor to mad Renault’s from times gone by – like the R5 Turbo and Clio V6. And it seems that’s a point Renault want to make very clear as they appear to be about to launch a short ‘Adventure’ film starring the Twin’Run, R5 and Clio out playing, just so we all know what the Twin’Run’s heritage is. But this is Renault – and they’re French, you know – so instead of recruiting a trio of boy racers to pilot the three hot hatches they’ve enlisted the skills of a trio of beautiful women.
